John (Jack) Lane  ? - 2012
Jack started out working for a Shipwright before his time in the RAF where he trained and served as a Flight Engineer. He then went to Vickers as a production engineer and had designed the jigs for the manufacturing and assembly of the Vanguard and the VC10.

He was also part of the Vickers/BAC Sales Team. He had a son who was a pilot but who died tragically young. The painting in the VC10 of a VC10 by George Edwards is one which Jack had given to his son. When the son died, Jack donated it to the aircraft. We understand the loss of his Wife some years ago had an understandably devastating effect on Jack and he was blessed to have his two Daughters around him.

He did some 15 years here at the Museum largely on the VC10 (where he was wonderful with our younger visitors) on Wednesdays. He took part in the VC10 refuelling flight out of Brize Norton attend by some Museum Volunteers, a few years ago.

In 1981 was made a Fellow of the Royal Television Society. He retired in 1987 after 44 years service and soon after become a Brooklands Volunteer.
